Angie Spagnoli, 2018 PSU-Altoona graduate of Environmental Studies and Biology, is currently a graduate student at IUP focusing on conservation biology and wetlands. As a 2015 CHANCE Costa Rica/Panama Fellow, she was asked to return the following year as a field and teaching assistant. During her conservation efforts and research abroad, Angie discovered the importance of protecting species and critical habitats.

She continues to advocate for and lead wetland restoration and reforestation projects, invasive plant removal initiatives, and local stream and river cleanups. Her master's research focuses on the energy transference between native and non-native plant species to higher trophic levels, including insect and bird predation. She hopes to gain employment as a wetland biologist in Pennsylvania following December 2021 graduation.
