CHANCE FELLOWS USE RESEARCH FINDINGS TO ADVOCATE FOR SUSTAINABILITY

Since returning from their 2022 CHANCE Romania Field Research course, Samar Latefa and Jonathan Perez have been working diligently to further communicate their group's research findings and to advocate for local and national Romanian and international European Union-based policy changes as well as to educate the population at large. Their research has earned them top awards at three scientific symposiums!

Reimagining Sustainability Education Through Emerging Technology

CHANCE 2018 Australia Fellow Talia Potochny’s love for emerging technology lands her an interview with news station WTAJ! She is a junior Geography major minoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Penn State University Park. Her current research is called "Reimagining Sustainability Education with Hands-on Learning and Emerging Technology" where she and another student are exploring how hands-on gardening and augmented reality technology enhance sustainability education. Over the last three semesters, she has applied sustainability practices in Colorado in the EMS Center for Advanced Undergraduate Studies and Experiences (CAUSE) program. She was accepted into the Schreyer Honors College and the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences Academy for Global Experience (EMSAGE) this fall and will be studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain in Spring 2020. Talia credits CHANCE with shaping her college experiences and career ambitions!
